GLITCH’S VERDICT

More of the same, but when “the same” is BioShock, that’s not a problem – it’s a promise kept.

BioShock 2 Review Glitch Holding 5 Fingers to show his rating of the game

PROS

  • Playing as a Big Daddy feels unique and powerful, with ocean floor exploration adding incredible atmosphere.
  • Little Sister adoption mechanic adds meaningful choices to the ADAM harvesting system.
  • Story stays just as strong and engaging as the original.
  • Big Sisters create intense new enemy encounters that force you to adapt.
  • Minerva’s Den DLC delivers an emotional gut-punch in just 5 hours – absolutely worth playing.

CONS

  • Gameplay doesn’t evolve much from BioShock 1 – feels familiar to the point of repetition.
  • Big Sisters are serious bullet sponges, even if they’re supposed to be.
  • Same non-standard FPS controls from the first game.

BOTTOM LINE

Buy if: You loved BioShock 1 and want more time in Rapture with meaningful improvements to the formula.

Skip if: You’re burned out on the first game and need something radically different.
