GLITCH’S VERDICT
Fun grinding can’t save the complete lack of story and constant “where do I go?” moments.

RATING: 3/5
PROS
- Grinding and progression loop is surprisingly fun – watching your party power up with each level feels rewarding.
- Updated pixel graphics look great – the classic world gets a clean modern polish.
- Class upgrade system at the midpoint gives your party a noticeable power spike.
- Soundtrack holds up well – easy to listen to throughout the entire 15-hour run.
CONS
- Virtually no story or lore – just a checklist of crystals to light with zero context.
- Navigation is painfully obtuse without a guide – expect to wander aimlessly between objectives.
- Heavy RNG in boss fights turns strategy into dice rolls (Chaos healing for 9,999 HP mid-fight is brutal).
- No enemy health bars make boss fights feel like blind wars of attrition.
- Combat gets repetitive over 15 hours despite the solid foundation.
BOTTOM LINE
Buy if: You want to see where the JRPG genre evolved from or genuinely enjoy old-school grindy RPGs without story.
Skip if: You need actual narrative or hate keeping a walkthrough open just to know where to go next.
